Another make done for the Sew Your View May Challenge. I must say these challenges help me stay accountable and disciplined to finish the project. 

This months project was the Ada pattern by Duana Chandler of Duana diy patterns. This was super exciting because Duana is an up and coming black indie pattern designer and it is great to see that seeing that the industry has been dominantly white. 

The pattern was a fairly easy make. Skills to use would be sewing a zipper on and button holes if you choose to make the version with functioning buttons.  I have shied away from making buttoned tops but this gave me more practice.

I wanted to stay true to the pattern so I made minimal tweaks (wink wink)

– I doubled the peplum width to get a gathered peplum

– I added darts to the front to get a flatter look at my waist.

That was it.
