Another mood fabrics free pattern completed for the sew your view challenge. Actually completed with a few hacks as I always do.
For my pattern hacks, I figured I would share a bit of my process.
When I see a pattern I always ask myself “is this a style I will wear more than once or better still, is this I style I will wear”. If not then I have learned to just skip it because chances are I will not actually sew it. If it’s something that I could possibly wear, I also ask “what is it that I am not too crazy about”.
So for the Verna pattern, I loved it, it was cute but…..It’s one that you have to wear a tshirt or cami in. I saw someone model a jumpsuit like that and it really looked cute but in my head I didn’t want to constantly look for a top to put under it.
So next step was to browse inspiration jumpsuits with a similar concept but closed, and there were a lot of options.Just google ruffle jumpsuit. I ended up choosing the blue one pictured.
I looked at the line art to see what changes I wanted to make. So my changes were
– create a strapless bodice
– have the ruffles on the princess seam
– Gathered Asymmetric ruffles widening at the shoulder and narrow at the base
– elastic added to the ruffle part connecting front and back bodice
– invisible zipper
So that is the overview of what I did, and I hope the picture I drew gives a little visual.
Fabric I used a linen fabric from hobby lobby that was sold out at my location, but here are a few other options. White and blue stripes, Boheme Indigo Stripes, smaller stripe linen blue

Which size did you cut? I’m trying to go by the finished measurements and give myself an inch for room….so I may make an 8 or 10
Hey…I usually cut size 16 but cut 12 and had to really grade down.
