What a weekend of festivity right? The Royal Wedding. I really didn’t think I would be this excited about it but I was and I even woke up early enough to watch it as it was happening. That was really thanks to mum who woke me up all the way from Zambia with her text messages asking me if I was watching. That was the end of my sleep LOL.
The whole ceremony was simply beautiful with diversity never seen before in the royal palace. It left me at a loss for words and just had me enjoying and taking everything in.
In line with the celebrations The McCall’s Pattern company hosted a sew along competition were participants had the opportunity to use any one of their current patterns from the McCalls and Simplicity brands to create a look we would wear to the royal wedding.
Of course I decided to try my hand at it. I decided I wanted something quick and simple but something I could actually wear somewhere. Also I am in the middle of sewing for a few clients so I didn’t want to take too much time away from that. My pattern of choice was McCalls M7720 and my fabric choices were 3 yards of Pink floral Brocade from Joann’s and 1.5 yards of Rosewater Satin Twill also from Joann’s. I stuck to the pattern mostly but added pockets, left out the boning and lining for the skirt.
This was my final look and entry for the sew along. I loved it and can’t wait to wear this somewhere. I added a clutch and of course a fascinator which were both DIY to finish my look. Did you watch any of the festivities? What were your favorite parts?
